Before you go
- Do not rent a car for central Seoul unless there is a specific reason outside the city.
- Choose a lodging base by transport, luggage, and airport/rail access first: Myeongdong/Euljiro/Jongno, Hongdae/Mapo, or Gangnam only if the trip really belongs south of the river.
- Save Korean names for stations, hotel parking if relevant, luggage storage, and the first food/market stop before arrival.
- Build each day around one clear cluster: palace/old town, market/river, or south-Seoul/departure.
- Use taxis/subway/walking as the default. This is still a Roadtrip Pass pack because it prevents the most expensive roadtrip mistake: using a car where it creates friction.

Day 1: AREX/rail arrival -> central lodging -> light evening walk
LowTime shape
- Afternoon: handle AREX, rail transfer, luggage, and check-in before sightseeing.
- Late afternoon: settle in Myeongdong/Euljiro or the chosen central base.
- Evening: use Cheonggyecheon as the low-friction first Seoul walk.
- Night: add Namsan only if arrival energy is still good.
Seoul works better when the first day protects luggage and recovery instead of pretending it is a full sightseeing day.

The risk is not parking. It is luggage, late check-in, foreign-card hiccups, subway transfer fatigue, and choosing a base far from the actual route.
If arrival is late, skip the old-town walk and go lodging -> simple dinner.
Palace, Bukchon, Insadong, and old Seoul cluster
Use one north-central cluster. Walk, subway, or taxi between close stops instead of crossing the city repeatedly.

Check palace closing days, hanbok/ticket rules if relevant, and whether the lodging base is close enough for a midday reset.
Palace hours, heat/cold, crowds, and cafe/restaurant queues matter more than driving. Do not add a car.
If palace timing fails, keep Bukchon/Insadong/Cheonggyecheon as the day shape.
Market, river, and modern neighborhood day
Choose one city mood instead of trying to do every famous neighborhood. Keep subway lines and taxi distance sane.

Food crowds, subway transfers, and late-night taxi demand are the main friction points.
If the day is rainy or hot, shorten the river stop and make it a market + cafe + early lodging reset day.
South Seoul, Namsan, or departure buffer
Use the final day as a buffer. Pick Namsan, COEX/Bongeunsa, or airport/rail departure prep, not all of them.
